James St. restaurant is everyone’s favourite restaurant in Belfast, whether celebrating a special occasion, catching up with friends, or hosting colleagues or customers for lunch or dinner.

Since opening its doors in September 2003, the restaurant has remained one of Belfast’s best places to dine, tasting great local produce. 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland 2023 by the Sunday Times, McKenna’s Guides to LCN Chef of the year.

James St opened its doors in September 2003 by Niall McKenna, overseeing the day-to-day running of the restaurant with his team Paul Vaughan, General manager and heading up the kitchen team are Dylan Turner & Vincent Gault.

The Team

Niall and his team run Waterman House, located in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter - just a 10-minute walk from James St. The venue features a cookery school, versatile event spaces for 10 to 90 guests, and the inviting Waterman Bistro.

Our Menus

The charcoal grill shapes our menu, featuring Tyrone Beef and sustainably sourced fish. Guests can choose from 2- or 3-course set menus, and our Sunday Roast is renowned as the best in Belfast.

Our extensive global wine list offers the perfect complement to any meal, with expert pairings available upon request.

An extensive cocktail menu and an Irish whiskey collection also takes pride of place on the bar, with the whole Bushmills collection available to taste.

James St. has private dining facilities for up to 40 guests, which can be made available for company bookings, private celebrations as well as staff parties.
